GPhC Exam 2013

387 pharmacy pre-regs have complained to the GPhC about Junes exam. Most pre-regs were happy with the Open Book and the venues but they were unhappy with the closed book exam section. Only 78% of pre-regs passed this year in comparison to 95% last year, quite a substantial drop. The Pre-reg's complaints have been backed by the student union.

The main complaints were about relevance, specifically:
  • A question on how many parts per million of carbon monoxide were needed in air
  • Another on the required levels of platelets and haemoglobin in test results
  • Many questions were seen as ambiguous by students
The GPhC has released a statement which placates their concerns in that they will try to do better next year. PCPA believes that this will happen every year, the only way to get around it is to be as prepared as possible so that you can get top marks on the "non-ambiguous" questions.
